{Love Birds}

More front room stuff

I took a printout from the blog Poppies at Play. You can find it here. I used that as my pattern on scrapbook paper and just modge podged it onto a piece of pine I painted white.

I also wanted to reuse the foam trees that I put up for Christmas. So, I assembled some tissue paper and tried a couple different things. This is what I came up with.

Fantastic felty headbands

I love felt crafts. I just love felt, you can get it for so cheap, and in a million colors. I am no felty snob. I don't need wool felt, just give me some good ol' fashion 0.29 cents a pop, found in the children's section of Michales, felt!

I enjoy a felty felt headband every now and again. I am always playing around and experimenting with headbands and junk. So, here are a few that I have thrown together in the wee hours of the night after I have put the Bug to bed.

I made a matching ring to go with this one. It is just a black button that I bought at Joann. I cut off the back with some wire cutters, glued a piece of felt to the back, and then hot glued it to a blank ring base that I bought at Michaels.

(please avert your eyes from the shaggy eyebrows and the roots, thanks you're a peach)

Front Room

I am trying to give my front room a little face lift. Mostly I am just sick of the decor, so I am switching it up a little bit. Here are some projects that I have done recently.

These were some plain brown pillows from Wal-Mart. I added felt to make flower and lace from an old t-shirt for the other. The best part was that it was no sew. I just used hot glue.

My new welcome sign on the mantel. My father in-law cuts out the letters and then you can personalize them yourself, or my wonderful sister in-law also takes orders.

These are some paintings that I did.
I saw some candles that had sheet music on them in a Pottery Barn magazine, but they were pretty expensive. So, I just found a vintage sheet music print off, and wrapped the candles that I already had. I think they look pretty neat.

Well that is what I have been up to lately. Look for more updates. I am going to being doing a photo collage and a clock coming up.

Happy crafting!

Christmas!

I got some Christmas decorations up. Here are a few pics.

I also revamped the birdhouse. Shaylee kind of tore the other one apart, so I gave it a second try.

Bird House

I am really bad at taking before shots. Maybe it is because I do a lot of my crafting on a whim. I will be sitting in my living room, and BAM it will hit me. Before you know it I have project complete without taking a second thought to take a stinkin' before shot. Oh well. Yesterday I was sitting in my living room, thinking of ways to make it more festive. Well, like I said I looked around and BAM it hit me. I have this bird house that my father-in-law made out of the kindness of his heart, well actually it is made out of old barn wood, but you catch my drift. So, this charming little bird house kind of gets lost in the background. I wanted it to stand out, to shine. So, I mixed some water with some white paint, added a little festive wreath, and a bligging star. So, sorry no before shot, but here is the after:

Jewelry Box

When I was a sophomore in high school, my boyfriend at the time was in shop. He made me this precious little box, and I mainly kept notes from him in it. Well, that time is long past, notes that were in the box thrown out, but I just could not bring myself to throw it out. It was genuinely a nice wooden box. It would be such a waste to get rid of it. So, I revamped it, see what you think.

Now some have asked what is that painted on the top. It is an "S" that I downloaded from a fancy font from www.dafont.com , if you have not been to this fabulous website, you should. It has tons and tons of awesome fonts that you can download for free.

Felt Headband

I recently have been playing around with felt. It is easy to work with, bright fun colors, and awesome for the sewing beginner, which would be me. So, like I said I have been doing some projects here and there. I decided to spiffy up an old head band of mine with some fantastic felty flowers. This is how it turned out:

Pretty darn cute if I do say myself.
